An exciting taster workshop where artist and printmaker Lesley Shaw will lead you through the *intaglio process of drypoint etching.
You will learn how to use drypoint etching tools safely and effectively exploring mark making with the use of steel etching needles or scribers, sandpaper and wire wool on a practice plate. Then using either your own drawing (ideally reversed) or an image provided, you will draw your image onto a transparent acrylic plate using a selected etching tool. Lesley will demonstrate and guide you through the process of inking up your plate, wiping and printing your plate with oil-based printing inks, using the etching press. You will leave with an A5 single colour drypoint etching on A4 paper.
Perfect for beginners looking to learn a new skill or for those wanting to expand on or refresh their printmaking knowledge. Just bring yourself and wear suitable clothing. Aprons and gloves will be provided.
