Introduction to Linoprint Workshop Saturday 17th February 2024, 10am-1pm

£45.00

Pica Studios, 7a Grape Lane, York, YO1 7HU

An exciting taster workshop where artist and printmaker Lesley Shaw will lead you through the *relief process of linocut.

You will learn how to use lino cutting tools or gouges safely and effectively, exploring mark making on a practice tile. Then using either your own drawing (ideally reversed) or an image provided, you will draw your image onto a lino tile. Using your selected lino cutting tools you will cut out your image. Lesley will demonstrate and guide you through the process of inking up and printing your tile with oil-based printing inks. You will produce 2 prints; the first by hand burnishing and the second using the etching press for comparison. You will leave with two A5 single colour linoprints on A4 paper.

Perfect for beginners looking to learn a new skill or for those wanting to expand on or refresh their printmaking knowledge. Just bring yourself and wear old clothing. Aprons and gloves provided, along with refreshments.
