Introduction to Trace Monoprint Workshop Saturday 16th November 2024, 10am-1pm
Pica Studios, 7a, Grape Lane, York, YO1 7HU
An exciting new workshop led by artist and printmaker Lesley Shaw, exploring Trace Monoprinting.
The workshop will start with a selection of still life setups, with the aim of producing some simple line drawings. Using pencils and cartridge paper, Lesley will guide you through some initial warm up sketches, with tips on drawing and shading techniques. From here you will produce your own simple line drawing/s. There will be an opportunity to develop your general drawing, observational skills and confidence, with advice and guidance from Lesley.
Next you will transfer your chosen still life drawing/s to a trace monoprint using oil-based printing inks. If you prefer, you can bring your own artwork with you, or use an image provided. Lesley will demonstrate and talk you through the process of inking up, and transforming your drawing into a trace monoprint, with its characteristic fuzzy line quality. You will also be shown how to apply shade and add a secondary colour to your print. You will leave with your original pencil drawings and at least one trace monoprint on A4 paper.
Perfect for beginners looking to learn a new skill or for those wanting to expand on or refresh their printmaking knowledge. Just bring yourself and wear suitable clothing. Aprons and gloves will be provided.
Full payment on booking. You will receive an email reminder and general information approx. 2 weeks before your workshop. Please notify Lesley of any dietry or access requirements.
If you need to cancel, a full refund or alternative date will be offered with at least 2 weeks notice of your session. However, Lesley is unable to offer any refund or alternative date if less than 2 weeks notice is given.
